You'll feel confident teaching children to:

Sound out words by pulling apart the sounds (segmenting): l-a-n-d | wh-i-s-k
Hear, sound out and spell, focusing on the tricky second sound
Read and match each sound to the correct letter/digraph:
Read land, hear l-a-n-d, spell land
Read whisk, hear wh-i-s-k, spell whisk
Put the sounds back together (blending) to read the word: l-a-n-d makes the word land, wh-i-s-k makes the word whisk

Activities included:

Double Consonant Combinations: Sound out the last two consonant sounds in each of the words.
The Second Last Sound I Hear is: Sound out the last two consonant sounds focusing on the second last sound - fill in the correct second sound using the letter tiles.
